The Cowrie Shell: Monetary and Symbolic Value

Image
The cowrie — or cowry — shell was one of the most successful and universal forms of currency in the world. In West Africa though, the humble shell worked its way into the cultural fiber, taking on a deeper symbolic and ritualistic meaning that has never been entirely lost. Its shape makes it instantly recognizable and difficult to forge. The cowries also have very little variation in size and form, which makes them easy to count. They were often threaded into bracelets or long strings of forty, or packed into pouches to form greater quantities. For large payments, the shells could be tossed into baskets and weighed to determine their value. 40 cowries made 1 string, 50 strings made 1 head (2

Black Super New Moon July-August 2019

Image
On July 31st or August 1st, depending on the time zone you live in, we have a Black Super Moon in the sign of Leo. A Black Moon is the name that is given to the second New Moon in a calendar month. Even though some countries will experience this New Moon in August, it is still considered a Black Moon due to its proximity to the start of the month. This Black Moon is also a Super Moon, meaning that it’s nice and close to planet Earth. When this happens, the tides are more affected by the vibrations of the Moon, and so too are we. The Black Super New Moon also brings the start of a new lunar cycle, and this new cycle comes after a series of very potent and transformative Eclipses.  In many ways, the start of this new cycle will be helping us to integrate and settle into the wounds, transformations, and changes the  July Eclipses  may have triggered. If the Eclipses have stirred things or brought change in your life, this Black Moon will allow you to soften into what ha

What is a black moon? There is actually no single, accepted definition for black moon, but it is used by   stargazers   to describe three phenomena. In most cases, it refers to the second occurrence of a new moon in a single calendar month. This type will next take place in the UK on August 30, 2019.  Some may use black moon to describe the third new moon in a season o

Kundalini Awakening Symptoms

Image
Many kundalini awakening symptoms are result from changes to the nervous system. It is easy to confuse symptoms from a neurological or biological condition as being due to kundalini awakening. In either case, symptoms are a sign of healing and of your body trying to maintain homeostasis or to increase your energy. Kundalini symptoms happen all along the awakening process , before pre-awakening, at spiritual awakening and afterward leading to full-blown kundalini transformation. Symptoms are produced as signs of physical changes manifesting in the body after each event of quiet mind happens, no matter how long that interval was. Because self-realization is gradual and biological, our ability to sustain quiet mind grows over time. The longer you can sustain quiet mind, the stronger the kundalini transformation symptoms become. Kundalini awakening symptoms noticeably, get closer together over time if you are progressing in your spiritual transformation. After the full-blow

MIND BUILDERS FELLOWSHIP On July 31st, the new moon in Leo is happening. This new moon is all about cramming in as much fun as possible before summer ends. The new moon in Leo will affect all zodiac signs, but Leo and Aquarius will feel it the most. Hump Day can be tough for all kinds of reasons. Sure, you’re halfway through the workweek, but you  still  have a few days to go until the weekend (and doesn't it always take  forever  to get to the "thirsty" part of Thursday?). Well, this Wednesday, July 31, has something a little different in store for you—a new moon in Leo. In astronomy terms, a "new moon" means that the moon is in line with the sun, making it pretty much invisible from Earth. Oh, and ICYDK, there are 12 new moons a year, each syncing up with a different zodiac sign. This new moon is going down, er, up in the sign of Leo, and it’s going to make you want to cram in as much fun as possible before summer ends, according to
